Roger Dean Helland, 70, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his home on Steamboat Lake, Laporte, MN. Roger was born on March 17, 1948, in Fargo, ND, to Alton and Jeannette (Werre) Helland. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN. He graduated from Moorhead High School, Moorhead AVTI, and North Dakota State University where he earned a degree in architecture. Roger worked for architectural firms in Devils Lake, ND; Crookston, MN; Grand Forks, ND; and retired April, 2018 from Foss Architecture and Interiors, Fargo, ND. Roger treasured time spent at the lake with family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hockey. He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons: Cory (Robyn), Jesse (Jen), and Brady (Cassie); seven grandchildren: Ryker, Brenna, Makenna, Crosby, Kalia, Shelby, and Landon; two brothers Rodney (Phyllis) and Richard (Dodie); sister-in-law and brother-in-law JoAnn and Allen Helmstetter; and several nephews and nieces. Roger was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church, Highway 71 North, Park Rapids, MN.
