Robert Dale (R.D.) Bruce, 80, of Wayne City, Illinois passed away at 2:06 P.M. July 3, 2018 in Coles County, Illinois. He was born August 6, 1937 in Wayne County, Illinois to the late Keelin Grant (K.G.) Bruce and Grace Pearl (Metcalf) Bruce. R.D. married Genevieve (Aumiller) Bruce on August 28, 1960. They were blessed with nearly 55 years of marriage until she preceded him in death in April of 2015. R.D. Bruce is survived by his daughters, LaDonna Jo (Steve) Fletcher of Champaign, Illinois, and Amanda Jo (Ben) Bellerud of Catlin, Illinois; grandchildren, Matheu Fletcher of Champaign, Illinois, Miles Bellerud, Jordan Bellerud, and Ryan Bellerud of Catlin, Illinois; sister, Grace Mae (Everett) Daily of Humboldt, Illinois; and nephews, Bruce Daily and family of Mattoon, Illinois; and Brian Daily and family of Arcadia, Indiana. R.D. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Genevieve Bruce. R.D. was a member of the Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Bluford, Illinois. He was a proud retired Wayne County farmer. In his retired years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and his daughters, and visiting with all his area friends. R.D. will be missed dearly by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois. Memorials may be made in R.D.’s honor to a college fund for his grandchildren, in care of LaDonna Fletcher.
