Richard Lee Hirsch, 90, residing in Fremont, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont. He was born on December 6, 1927 in Van Wert, OH, to the late Louie J. and Goldie Mae (King) Hirsch. Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran, and retired from Ford Motor Company after 36 years of service. He was skilled at lathe and mechanical work and utilized those skills at Browns-Lakeside Marina. He was creative and a very talented woodworker. He enjoyed building things around the house and for his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. During retirement he raised and bred Paso Fino horses, loved his Jack Russell Terrier, Molly. He enjoyed family vacations, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Barbara) Hirsch, Columbus, OH, Sharon (Joe) Lee, Bettsville, OH, and Bonnie (Thomas) Garner, Oak Harbor, OH; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Donna Marie Hirsch, on January 11, 2018; his parents; and a sister, Nora Scott. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to ProMedica Hospice of Clyde, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, OH 43410, or to one’s favorite charity.
