Obituary for Mr. Richard Compton Richard Compton, age 80 of Florahome, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Richard was born on July 29, 1938 in Martin, KY to the late Alvis and Sadie Compton. Following high school; Mr. Compton served in the Army in the 82nd Airborne. After he complete four years in the arm forces he worked as a mill right for Eaton, Corporation in Kentucky. In his spare time he enjoyed Alabama Football, Kentucky Wildcat Basketball and fishing. Richard was also a member of the American Legion Post 202 and the AM Vets Post 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Sadie Compton. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wanda Compton of Florahome; sons, Richard (Robin) Compton of Grand Junction, Iowa and Alvis Compton of Florahome; brother, Ray (Faith) Compton of Temple TX; sister, Leona Nelson of West Virginia; and three grandchildren, James, Matthew and Nelson. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME OF STARKE 904-964-6200.
