Richard Campbell, 74, of Cottondale, Florida passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Syracuse, New York while visiting his family. He was born June 13, 1944 to Donald and Beatrice Campbell in Sidney, New York. Richard had a decorated military career spanning from May 15, 1963 through August 31, 1986. He retired and moved to Cottondale, Florida in 1986 where he began his second career with the State of Florida in the Department of Labor. While employed with the Department of Labor, he earned the Davis Productivity Award and the Unsung Heros in the Trenches Award for Hurricane Relief. He retired again in 2011 to enjoy a real retirement with his family. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was unselfish and willing to help anyone. Richard is of the Methodist Faith and attended the First United Methodist Church of Cottondale. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Sandy; nephew Jeffery; grandson Cole, and half-brother Seth. Survivors include his wife Delores Campbell of 54 years; sons Richard Campbell II of Cottondale, Florida, Michael Campbell and wife Melinda of Cottondale, Florida; sisters Elaine Starbuck(Jim), Patricia Gonyea(Gary), and Darlene Campbell(Don); grandchildren Chase, Hailey, and Isabelle Campbell; along with a host of nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
