Pierrette H Silverwood May 6 1938 July 14 2018 (age 80)

Pierette H. Silverwood, age 80, passed away July 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1938 in Montreal, Canada to Emile and Jenette (Bonin) Poliquin. Pierrette leaves behind a legacy, forever embedded in the fabric of her family and all those blessed to have known her personally. She was the quintessential city girl in her younger years growing up in Montreal, indulging her passions for fashion, the theater and cultivating her craft as a floral designer. It was at the age of 19 she married her husband of 61 years, Phil Silverwood, and immigrated to the United States without knowing a single word of the English language. Phil and Pierrette fell in love with the small-town charm of Mount Vernon, Ohio and decided it was there that they were would raise their family. Pierrette lived the American dream and became the ultimate role model for the modern day working mom. She channeled her creative talents and entrepreneurial spirit in to opening a successful floral business in the heart of her community, participated in numerous outreach initiatives and social organizations and still managed to have a home cooked meal on the table every night for dinner. Who would have thought our Pierrette would be in a belly-dancing club, garden club, sir optimists for business women and host the best card parties that were always the talk of the town. Pierrette wore all the hats, and she wore them with grace, but no role was more important than that of a mother and grandmother. In her later years, Pierrette stayed busy always giving back to someone in need. She was an incredibly compassionate and generous human being that gave her love to all those she encountered. Pierrette is one of a kind, irreplaceable and forever in our hearts. As her family grieves the loss of her life and works to navigate a “new normal” without her in it, we are comforted knowing her spirit lives on with the Lord and those lost before her. She is the guardian angel in our hearts, and she will never be forgotten. Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her husband whom she married March 15, 1957, Philip Silverwood, one son Steven (Susan) Silverwood of Mount Vernon, and one daughter Monique (Skip) Scott of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; Whitney, Tyler, Sidney, Sierra, Sammi, Spencer, Michelle, Cole, Mia, and Lexi; two great-grandchildren Cameron and Emmett; one brother Jean-Pierre Poliquin of Montreal, Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Francoise Poliquin. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the Lasater Funeral Home, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon. A celebration of life reception will be held immediately following the service in the Lasater Family Center.
