Obituary of Phyllis Strider Phyllis Anne Phillips Strider, age 84, of Asheboro died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Randolph Health, Asheboro. Mrs. Strider was born May 20, 1934 at High Point, NC the daughter of Paul Edward and Iva Myrtle Robbins Phillips. Phyllis was a very educated, intellectual person who loved to talk. Some of her favorite things were traveling with her family, watching the evening news and PBS. She enjoyed flowers and was a member of Hopewell Friends Meeting. Phyllis is preceded in death by both of her parents; sister, Isabella Phillips and brother, Jimmy Phillips. She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Roy “John” Strider; daughters: Elaine McPherson and Renee Varner both of Asheboro; grandson, Eric McPherson and wife Karla of Asheboro; granddaughter, Amy McPherson and Zeke Harris of San Francisco, CA, great grandchildren: Kylie, Kaiden, and Kinsley; and brother, Eddie Phillips of Star. The family will receive friends Monday, July 30, 2018 from 10:00-11:00AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will follow at 11:00AM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Friends Meeting Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Friends Meeting, 2244 Hopewell Friends Road, Asheboro, NC 27203 or Ether United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 156, Ether, NC 27247
