Obituary for Patricia Louise Mary McEldowney Patricia Louise Mary “Pat” McEldowney, age 86 of Kettering, passed away peacefully at Bethany Village, Tuesday, April 3, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents: Alva Andrew and Ruth Taylor McEldowney, two brothers, David and Clarence, and one niece, MaryRuth. Pat is survived by 9 nieces and nephews: Ann (Rick) Hertle, Jane (Will) McEldowney, David McEldowney, Mike (Charlotte) McEldowney, Connie Bazil, Brian (Anne) McEldowney, Nancy (Tim) McEldowney, JoEllen( Mike) McEldowney, and John (Cathy) McEldowney. She is also survived by her very dear cousins Carol (Bulcher) Zimmerman and Jimmy Bulcher and Judy and Donnie Taylor. Also surviving are 15 great nieces and nephews and 9 great-great nieces and nephews. Pat attended Franklin School and graduated from Wilbur Wright High School. After graduation she worked for the Dayton Public library driving the book mobile where she earned the nickname the “Wild Irish Rose”. Following the library she excelled at Delco Moraine for 30 years, rising to become one of the first women supervisors of the Personnel Department. Devoted to her family, she was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and cousin, and a good friend to all who knew her. Pat was an avid reader and loved nothing better than to sit on her patio with a good book. She also enjoyed bird watching with her dog Tiger and later cat Toby at her side. Pat loved live theatre, especially Broadway musicals, and for many years attended the summer programs at Memorial Hall. She was a world traveler and the list of countries that she visited with her sister-in-law Joyce or other family and friends includes, Germany, France, Egypt and Ireland, where she delighted in kissing the Blarney Stone. She loved driving vacations and after retirement drove to southern California and up the Pacific Coast Highway. Another favorite and oft-traveled destination was Clearwater, FL where Pat daily enjoyed her family and the beach. Pat was a wonderful lady, kind in spirit and generous of heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 AM Saturday, April 14, at Holy Trinity Church, 272 Bainbridge St., Dayton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 13 at MORRIS SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1771 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering.
