Obituary for Mrs. Patricia Lee Chaplin Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Lee Chaplin, 90, who passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018, will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 1, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Hartsville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 30, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Patricia “Pat”, widow of Marvin Thomas Chaplin, was born in Columbia, SC, on July 22, 1927. She was a daughter of the late Vernon Lee and Lillie Mae Martin Lee. Pat grew up in Florence, SC and later graduated from Newberry College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartsville and was retired after 26 years of service to Sonoco Products Company. Outside of her professional career, Pat spent countless hours volunteering at libraries, schools, gardens and her church. She also was an avid reader and an artist. Her artwork was inspired by the beauty of nature surrounding her at her beloved farm. Pat took great pleasure in sharing God’s awesomeness through His creation. She taught her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews about the stars of the heavens and plants and flowers of the earth. Pat’s great strength, courage and perseverance through many of life’s struggles came from her faith in our Lord and Savior. She is survived by her sons, David Lee Chaplin (Gayle) of Hartsville, SC, Thomas “Tommy” Graves Chaplin (Vicki) of Hartsville, SC; daughter, Jane Chaplin Stugart (Rick) of Winston-Salem, NC; son-in-law, Jim Eckert of Toledo, OH; brother, Jerry Lee (Jean) of Evergreen, SC; grandchildren, Erika Tallent (Marty), Emily Cottle, Dani Chaplin, Thomas Chaplin (Ashleigh), James Daniel Chaplin, Jacob Stugart (Alicia), Allie Stugart; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Chaplin Eckert; sister, Ann Lee Hutto; brother, Marion “Bull” Lee. The family would like to express much gratitude to her special caregivers, Deloise Cosom, Pat Blout, and Neici Dargan. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 104 E.
