Myron Isaiah Cox July 12 1941 July 22 2018 (age 77)

Myron Isaiah Cox, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and angels on July 22, 2018, just one day prior to his fifty-third wedding anniversary to his devoted and loving wife, Colleen, to whom he was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Myron’s deep love and dedication to his wife and family was apparent. He loved nothing more than family gatherings, attending events of his children and grandchildren, and talking to anyone about genealogy work and family history. He would spend hours at the family history library finding family members who have long since passed. Those ancestors are now rejoicing at their happy reunion and thanking him for telling their stories. Myron had a mind unlike any other. Graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in Biology, his thirst for knowledge led him to then receive Master’s Degrees in Fishery Biology and Library Sciences. Myron’s ability to research and encyclopedic memory, led him to be successful in his endeavors with Utah Fish and Game and the Utah State Health Department. His pursuits gave him an appreciation for the outdoors, where he enjoyed hours of camping and fishing. Myron especially loved spending time on Boulder Mountain and sharing memories of good times spent there with his brothers and children. Though he would have loved to travel more, his favorite place was being with his wife Colleen, sitting in their chairs, side-by-side. No two people understood each other better or loved each other more. Myron’s devotion to church callings, hard work, and family was passed on to his five children: John (Kelli), David (Emily), Sam (Monica), Joanne (Brad), and Daniel (Katy). His legacy will live on through them and his seventeen grandchildren. He is also survived by his wonderful wife Colleen who never left his side and his sisters Alta and Erva. Myron is preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah Joseph and Sarah; his brothers, Mayhew, June, and Thurston; and his sisters, Sarah and Mary Jane. The family would like to send their thanks to the incredible ICU staff at Jordan Valley Hospital for the care that they gave Myron in his last days. Their delicate touch and Christ-like kindness made Myron’s transition from this life as gentle and easy as possible. Myron, we love you and can’t wait to be reunited with you again some day. A viewing will be held Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Goff Mortuary located at 8090 State Street in Midvale, Utah. A celebration of Myron’s life will be held the following day, Friday, July 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the ward building located at 12830 S. 2700 W. in Riverton, Utah. It will be preceded by a short viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hurricane City Cemetery in Hurricane, Utah. In lieu of flowers please donate to Primary Children’s Hospital.
