Michael Eugene De Zwarte was born September 1, 1955, to Marvin and Mary (Vis) De Zwarte, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on July 7, 2018, at the age of 62. Mike lived in the Pella area his whole life. He attended Pella Christian Grade School and was a 1973 graduate of Pella Community High School. Mike was united in marriage to Melissa Wyma on April 28, 1995, in Sully, Iowa. Together they raised three daughters: Julie, Jayne and Amy. Mike was a dedicated employee for Kooyman Lumber, now Lampert Lumber, for 45 years. Mike loved his wife, daughters and granddaughters very much! He was always willing to help out whenever he saw a need. Mike enjoyed boating, fishing, and listening to music. He was devoted to helping raise his granddaughters. Mike was baptized at First Christian Reformed Church and made profession of faith at Second Reformed Church in Pella. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Melissa, and their family: Julie Keegel and Mike Vander Hoek, Pella Taylor Keegel Madison Keegel Jayne De Zwarte, Des Moines Jawnica Long Launa Edwards Allie Van Wyk Kylie De Zwarte Amy and Matt Johnson, Killduff Amber Johnson Mike is also survived by his parents Marvin and Mary De Zwarte of Pella, his sisters: Gayle and Roger Wyma of Knoxville, and Sandy and Mike Schippers of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gerrit and Grace Vis, and Abe and Cobie De Zwarte.
