Obituary for Michael “Mike” John Downs Michael “Mike” John Downs, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at his home in Liberal. He was born November 1, 1971 at Liberal, KS, the son of Arthur and Donna (Frampton) Downs. Mike was a graduate of Liberal High School. He enjoyed watching Football, his favorite teams were the Liberal Redskins, K-State Wildcats and the Denver Broncos. In 1991 Mike was selected to compete at the International Special Olympics in St. Paul Minnesota; the first person to represent the Southwest Kansas area at the International Olympics. Mike went on to win the Silver Medal in Bowling. Mike also loved animals especially his Dachshund Dexter and Cat Sunshine. Mike dearly loved his family, they were his earthly anchor. They richly blessed him with their love. He is survived by his Mother- Donna Downs of Liberal, KS; Brother- Jeff Downs and wife Jamie of Liberal, KS; Two Sisters- Debbie Holterman and husband Jim of Omaha, NE, Terri Reynolds and husband Mike of Bernardsville, NJ; Several Nieces and Nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father and One Brother- Steve Downs. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. The family suggests memorials to the Special Olympics in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
