Obituary for Michael Lee Burton Michael Lee Burton, 68, a resident of Martinsville, passed from this life at 2:40 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends. His life began on Monday, December 12, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, when he was born to the late Lawrence and Betty J. (Lynn) Burton. Mike lived most of his life in Martinsville and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1967. He was employed for twenty-four years at Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis, retiring in 2005 as a maintenance mechanic. When his health permitted, he loved to race 4-wheelers, ride motorcycles and sand rails and go hunting and fishing. Over the past few years, as his health declined while fighting cancer, Mike spent countless hours enjoying the calmness and solitude of nature. He loved to watch the birds, listen to the crickets and a peaceful rainfall, and simply watch the change of seasons. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends including his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Adam Wildrick, with whom he lived in Martinsville; his daughter, Teresa Hahn of Greencastle, IN; four grandchildren, Adam “Bub” Wildrick, Jessica (husband, Josh) Kidwell, and Courtney and Kyle Johnson; three great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and only sibling, Richard Burton. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Rev. David Clayton will conduct a service at the graveside in Centerton Cemetery beginning at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, following the visitation.
