OBITUARY Marvin Edward “Eddie” Entrekin March 9, 1937 – July 19, 2018 Play Tribute Movie The Entrekin Family sadly mourns the loss of Marvin Edward Entrekin, whom passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the age 81. Known to family and friends at “Eddie”, always with a smile a kind word for everyone, resided in Gadsden the majority of his life. Eddie was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School, Class of 1957. After graduation he went to Snead State Community College on a baseball scholarship and later attended Gadsden State Community College and Jacksonville State University as well. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958 and served his country until 1964 and then went to work at Republic Steele, where he retired in 2000. He then went to work at the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office for 9 years before retiring again. Eddie was a member and former Master of Dwight Masonic Lodge 550 for over 30 years. One of his passions was Alabama High School Athletics where he officiated numerous sports for over 36 years and received the “Distinguished Service Award” from the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Charter member if the Walnut Park Community Church where he served as choir director. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Entrekin and Annie Freeman Entrekin. He is survived by the love of his life , Janice Entrekin, son, Todd (Karen) Entrekin, grandchildren, Jacob Entrekin, Colee (Ryan)Hill and Mallori Entrekin. Brothers and sisters, Connie (Barbara) Entrekin, Jerry (Kay) Entrekin, Ray (Brenda) Entrekin, Gary (Pat) Entrekin, Linda Cleveland, Jimmie (Charlene) Entrekin, Paulette Chandler, Homer (Linda) Entrekin, Vicki Mobley, Mitzi (Jeff) Pearson. Special nieces, Brandi Hatfield, Beth Self and Betsy Chandler and a multitude of other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jacob Entrekin, Scott Entrekin, Connor Self, Mike Self, John Wesley Self, Scott Greene and Brad Addison. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Minshew, Jerry Rogers, Pat Thomas and Alec Burns. Services will be Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Collier Butler Funeral Chapel. The family will be receiving friends for visitation starting at 11A.M. and funeral in the Chapel starting at 2 P.M. Graveside service to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Dr. Scott Hassell and the Rev. Jeff Roberson will officiate the service. The family has requested no flowers, but donations be made to the Etowah County Law Enforcement Memorial, 827 Forrest Ave. Gadsden, AL, 35901 or the Walnut Park Community Church, 422 Wilson Street, Gadsden, AL 35904 Special thanks to Dr. Courtney Lowe and Connie Maltbie, 8th floor director and staff at Gadsden Regional 8th Floor ICU and Gadsden Healthcare for their continual care and kindness throughout his sickness on many occasions during his stay with them.
