Marie DiMartino Somerset – Marie DiMartino, 86, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2018, at RWJ Somerset, with her loving family by her side. Daughter of the late Lucy and Salvatore Bassetti, Marie was born in Manhattan, NY on February 11, 1932. Marie was married to her beloved husband, Joseph, for 64 years. Early in their married life, they lived in Brooklyn, NY, then moved to Bridgewater, NJ in 1971 and since 2005 have enjoyed living in the Somerset Run community. Marie was a businesswoman – a former partner of The Hobby Shop in Aberdeen, NJ. Marie also served as the President of the Bridgewater Senior Center for several terms. Marie is survived by her loving husband, Joe, her daughter, Donna DiMartino, and son-in-law, Louis Thomas, of Whitehouse Station, NJ and her daughter, Denise Perniciaro and son-in-law, William Perniciaro, of Edison, NJ. Marie is also survived by her granddaughter, Lauren Perniciaro Ågren , and her husband, Kristoffer Ågren, and her granddaughters, Caitlen Perniciaro, and Ana Thomas. Marie also leaves behind a large extended family and many dear friends. She will be sadly missed. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 19, 2018 and from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 9 AM at the funeral home followed by a 10 AM Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church in South Bound Brook. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made In Memory of Marie DiMartino to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
