Obituary for Margaret “Peggy” J. Jones Kinsman, Ohio – Margaret “Peg” Joan Jones, age 89, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Hamot Hospital in Erie after an extended illness. She was born on June 10, 1929, in War, West Virginia, a daughter of Helen Dorothy (Johnson) and Clarence Homer Couch. Peg was a 1948 graduate of Nicholas County High School in Summersville, West Virginia. She attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia, East Tennessee State, and Thiel College in Greenville, PA, where she studied Business Administration. On June 14, 1959, she married Attorney C. Richard “Dick” Jones of Warren. Peg was a loan secretary for Mahoning National Bank for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church for over fifty-five years. Peg was active in her church having served on Session, and as a Deacon, she sang in the choir for many years, was an officer of the Women’s Association, and was a Chair for many years of the November Bazaar. She was a past president of the former Business & Professional Woman’s Association in Kinsman, a member of the Kinsman Historical Society, and a fifty-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Peg traveled the world with her husband Dick and spent many hours golfing with him. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-two years, C. Richard Jones (August 23, 2001); her sister, Barbara C. Ofsa; and her special cousin, Pamela Trunkey. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Helen Adele Jones of Cortland, Ohio; sister-in-law, Georgia Mae Jones of Howland, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews, David (Lynn) Ofsa, William (Vicki) Ofsa, Rob Ofsa, Mary (David) Dennis, David Jones, Mark (Debbie) Jones, Marilyn (Jerry) Ostertag, Margaret Ann Jones, and Janice Jones; eleven great nieces and nephews; and ten great-great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., Kinsman,OH, with Rev. Susan Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 11th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, and also on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
