Obituary for Lawrence “Sonny” Rodgers Lawrence “Sonny” William Rodgers, 88, of Falling Waters, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Hospice of the Panhandle. Sonny was born on July 21,1929 in Youngstown, OH and was the son of the late Harry Rodgers and Ella Marie Hunter Rodgers. He retired from the US Army National Guard, and as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He Was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Moose Lodge 120 and of Red Men Tribe 84. He is survived by three sons, Dr. Lawrence W. Rodgers, Jr. and wife Marian of Gainesville, FL; grand-children (Joshua, Lauren, Joy, Ashley and Merideth), Harry Alan Rodgers of Ocala, FL; grandchildren (Joel, Erin). William Scott Rodgers and wife, Sin Hyo, of Falling Waters, WV; grandchildren (Daniel and Timothy “T.L.”); one daughter, M. Hope Crites and husband Steve, of Martinsburg; grandchild (Colton); a brother Harry Rogers and wife Mary of Martinsburg; a sister Linda Kaylor and husband Denny of Martinsburg. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Bessye Frances (Ronk) Rodgers, a brother Jackson, a sister Wanda Beard and a grandson Chet Rodgers. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Matthew Day officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
