Obituary for Lawrence Morse Jr. Lawrence C. Morse, Jr., 75, husband of Johnnie Friel Morse, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at his home. Born January 5, 1943, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Lawrence C. Morse, Sr. and the late Mary E. Lowder Morse. He was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God. Mr. Morse owned and operated Morse Garage in Pinewood for more than 45 years. Survivors include his wife of 15 years; three sons, Logan Morse, and Wesley Morse both of Pinewood, and Brad Byrd (Shannon) of Bonneau; two daughters, Amber Gerbode (Jason) of Wedgefield and Felicia Steigerwalt (Ray) of Sumter; two brothers, Charles Morse (Carolyn) and Leo Morse (Connie) all of Sumter; a sister, Carol Evans (Bob) of Pocahontas, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Jacob, Caleb, Jayden, Bekka, Bella, and Raylynn; a special son, Gavin Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Morse; and a sister, Nora Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Green Acres Assembly of God with the Rev. Michael Bowman and the Rev. Dr. Eugene Mosier officiating. Burial will be in the Pinewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard “Furman” Elliott, Brad Byrd, Chuck Morse, Bobby Morse, Tim Dixon, and Wyman Geddings. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Fellowship of Green Acres Assembly of God and Kenny Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 407 E. Fulton St., Pinewood. Memorials may be made to Green Acres Assembly of God, 537 Lewis Rd., Sumter, SC 29154. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. Order Flowers
