Kenneth L. Knight age 73 of Cumberland, OH passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at his home under the care of the Hospice of Guernsey and surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 10, 1944 in Abilene, TX a son of Bessie J. Alexander Hamilton of Newcomerstown, OH and the late Kenneth L. Knight Sr. He was a 1962 Graduate of the Newcomerstown High School. He went on to serve and protect our nation in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721 and the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newcomerstown. He was retired from the Noble County Sheriff’s Office following 22 years of serving his community, friends, and neighbors. He also owned and operated the Kenneth L. Knight Bookkeeping and Income Tax Service in Dexter City for many years. He enjoyed fishing and most of all spending time with his family, especially his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved traveling and made many trips with his wife Christine back and forth to Florida. He was affectionately known as “Alice” to one of his nieces. He will be remembered as a soft spoken, loving father, husband, and grandfather. He also loved to have his little dogs around him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Christine A. Johnson Knight whom he married September 13, 1980; 1 daughter Kimberly L. Knight of Caldwell; 2 granddaughters Chelsie Bartnicki of Caldwell and Carrie A. Yontz of Cambridge, OH; 6 great-grandchildren Kage, Cecilla, Billy, Ellie, Emory, and Jhett; 1 sister Bonnie Jean Knight (Thomas) Heller of Wildwood, FL; niece Leslie (Clark) Smith of Ocala, FL. He is also survived by several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Memorial Service will conclude visitation at 1:00 PM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cy Copeland officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations and the Noble County Sheriff’s Office. Services will conclude at the Funeral Home and inurnment will be held at a later date.
