Judith Carol Strickland, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Morning Breeze in Greensburg. She was born February 1, 1944 in Shelbyville to Delva M. and Ruth L. (Worden) Spurlin. She married Jesse Strickland, Jr. on May 29, 1974 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2011. Judith is survived by her son, David (Ruth) Strickland and step-daughter, Loreena (Roger) Phillips all of England; brother, Arthur (Bev) Claridge, sister, Brenda (Timothy) Cooney all of Shelbyville, brother, Carl (Joanna) Claridge of Marietta; grandchildren, Jordon and James, cousins, Barbara, Candy and Ann, nephew, Aaron and nieces, Dawn and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Delva ‘Buddy’ Spurlin, Jr. Judith attended Crossroad Community Church. She was a retired nurse. She loved writing letters for her church while living in Cleveland. She also enjoyed gardening. A private visitation will be from 11 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Services will follow at Noon at the funeral home with Reverend Andy Lee officiating. Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens. Funeral Directors, Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Strickland family.
