Joyce Pittman May 16 1935 July 28 2018

Obituary for Mrs. Joyce M. Pittman Following a long battle with dementia, Joyce Maxine Pittman was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on July 28, 2018. She is now basking in the unspeakable joys of heaven in the very presence of Christ himself. Joyce was born May 16, 1935, in Bagdad, Kentucky. Her parents were Alvin Puckett (deceased), Ida Elizabeth Padgett (deceased), and the Rev. Edgar Dale Padgett (Step-father) (deceased). She was married to Judson Ray Pittman on June 27, 1954. He survives and counts it pure joy to have called her his wife. Survivors include her sisters, Bonnie Hasecuster (Harold) of Shelbyville, Indiana and Linda Workman (Cecil) of Columbus; her children, Darryl (Debbie) Pittman of Greensboro, Georgia, Brenda (Charles) Fleetwood of Ogilville, and Gary Pittman and his fiancee, Angela Cunningham of Seymour; her grandchildren, Carrie Miller (Tim) of Madison, Georgia, Ashly (Chad) Hunt of Madison, Georgia, Judson Pittman of Franklin, and Jillian Pittman (deceased); and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Braydon, and Caden Miller, and Jillian and Gavin Hunt. Joyce was the longest serving member of Hartsville United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving there through the years. She particularly loved her “old friends”. Above all, she was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. While she will be greatly missed in this world, her memory and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Mr. John W. Hundley officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday. Entombment will be at the Garland Brook Mausoleum.
