Obituary for Joyce ‘Joy’ (Nelson) Johander Johander (Nelson), Joyce “Joy” passed away on July 1, 2018 at her lake home in Pequot Lakes. Survived by the love of her life, Bill, her husband for almost 54 years; she leaves behind 2 daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Bauernfeind and Heather (Mike) Felt; 5 wonderful grandkids added so much to her life, Elise, Claire and Emma Bauernfeind, and Cameron and Carley Felt; sister, Mary Lee Olson; and brother, Mike East; sisters-in-law, Lynn Johander and Mary (Bob) Johander; brother- in-law, Richard (Becky) Johander. Joy was blessed with many special cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors. Joy was born in Duluth, MN and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD and taught kindergarten in Menomonie, WI after graduating from UMD. She was the unofficial historian for Calvary and was actively involved in the prayer shawl ministry. She loved to play cards and create her families histories. Memorial service July 10 at 11 AM with a gathering at 10 AM at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley. Memorials to Smile Train or Calvary Lutheran Church.
