Obituary of John Stein, Jr. John H. Stein, Jr., age 85 of Franklin Lakes died peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2018. Born in North Bergen, John has been a resident of Franklin Lakes for the past 54 years. He was 1954 Graduate of Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. John’s career in the Commodity Industry spanned 40 years retiring from Smith Barney in 1993. He was an active member of the Grace Community Church of Franklin Lakes for more than 60 years. He was very fond of fishing, camping, hiking and enjoyed spending time with his family and church. Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Martha M. (nee Manning), his children, Barbara and her husband Richard Wells, Peter D. and his wife Martha and his daughter-in-law Kathi and her husband Stephen Mitchell. He also leaves his seven grandchildren, 2 beautiful great grandchildren, his sister Maria Braun Egli and many nieces and nephews. John was pre-deceased by his son John G. Stein in 1991. The Stein family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, 9:30 until 11:30 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in the Redeemer Cemetery in Mahwah. Memorial contributions may be made to; Grace Community Church, (General Fund) 886 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
