Obituary for John A. “Jack” McBride Jr. John A. McBride, Jr. “Jack” was born on November 23, 1939 (Thanksgiving) and grew up in Burlington City, where he attended St. Grammar School and graduated from Trenton Catholic High School in 1958. As a teenager he joined the Niagara Firehouse and then went on to join the US Army where he traveled to Germany and most of Europe. After his tour he was discharged and took a job at RCA in Riverton then he went on to join the Burlington City Police Department. Jack retired as a Lieutenant after 26 years of service in 1988. Jack was a member of the Young America Firehouse, Oneida Boat Club, FOP Lodge #63, Retired Police Association, Endeavor Fire Company, Delran Gun Club, VFW Scully Bozarth Post, American Legion Post 79, Burlington City and NJ Exempt Fireman’s Association and the Delaware River Rowing Club. As an active member to the Oneida Boat Club from 1964 til the time of his passing, Jack served as President from 1970-1974 and then again from 2001 to the present time. He was an avid collector of coins, cars, guns and was a major history buff. He was predeceased by his parents: John A. McBride, Sr., Mary Berry, and his wife Mary McBride. Jack is survived by his son John A. McBride, III and 3 grandchildren: Tyler, Madison and JW; his sister Arlene McBride and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jack will be greatly missed by Police, Fire and Oneida Boat Club “Family” especially Ric Babula and Rich Duggan. Jack wishes were to have a casual get together and to “get to the boat club” to celebrate my life. So with this in mind we will “Raise our Oars” to Celebrate Jack’s Memory and hold a viewing at the Oneida Boat Club, #3 York Street at the Riverbank on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 5-8pm. There will be additional parking available on Pearl Street and at St. Paul’s RC Church Parking Lot at Saint Mary Street and Penn Street. A viewing on Saturday will be held at Page’s Funeral Home, 302 E. Union Street Burlington from 8:30am-10am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Paul’s RC Church, 223 E. Union Street Burlington at 10:30 with cemetery services to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Delaware River Rowing Club, #3 York Street Burlington, NJ 08016.
