OBITUARY John A. Grubbs September 16, 1930 – July 14, 2018 NORTHPORT – John Albert Grubbs, age 87, of Northport, Ala., passed away July 14, 2018 in Northport, Ala. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home with Neil Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Chism. Survivors include his spouse, Eula Mae Burkett Grubbs; daughter, Sheila Stromberg (Darrell); sons, Steve Grubbs (Marla), Bob Grubbs (Phylis) and Rodney Grubbs (Shannon); sister, Frances Sanford (Maurice); grandchildren, Jonathan Grubbs, Shaun Grubbs (Amy), Kelley Stasiw (Justin), Chris Stromberg (Hayley), Allison Walker( Jay), John Grubbs (Meagan), Olivia Mann (Matthew), Tyler Stromberg, Paul Grubbs (Sarah), Mitchell Stromberg; great-grandchildren, Dylann and Olyve Grubbs, Keegan and Berkley Walker, and Samwise Grubbs. John Grubbs was born in Raymond, Miss. on September 16, 1930. He was raised in Walker County and graduated from The University of Alabama with a BS in Chemistry in 1952 and MBA from Ole Miss in 1966. He served in the military for 22 years including a tour of duty in Vietnam reaching rank of LTC. Retiring from the army he taught ROTC at the Tuscaloosa City Schools. He was a member of the University Church of Christ and a former elder at High Forest Church of Christ. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Grubbs, Shaun Grubbs, John Grubbs, Chris Stromberg, Tyler Stromberg, Mitchell Stromberg and Paul Grubbs. Honorary pallbearers are all graduates of Jr. ROTC from Central High School. FAMILY Mr. and Mrs. B.H.
