Funeral services for Jerry Fred Calder, 77, of Scurry, are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Creagleville Cemetery. Jerry Fred Calder was born August 5, 1940, in Grand Saline, TX, to parents, Fred Dewaren Calder and Lillie Lee Kuykendall Calder. He attended schools in Fruitvale as well as in Dallas. Jerry had lived in Scurry since 1989. He was a truck driver and teamster, retiring from Yellow Freight in 1998. Jerry was also an employee of the Mesquite Rodeo for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillie Calder; a sister, Judy McDonald and a brother, Jimmy Calder. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sandra Starnes and husband, Roger, of Scurry; brother, Robert Calder; three grandchildren, Kristen Buford, Tyler Starnes and Melody Starnes; great granddaughter, Kayden Buford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
