Obituary for Janet Sipes Janet Kaye Sipes, longtime Oktaha resident, died Friday July 20, 2018 at her home. She was 72. Born February 5, 1946 she was the daughter of Henry and Geraldine (Garner) Rhodes. She grew up in Oktaha and graduated from Oktaha High School in 1964. On February 22, 1964 she married Gale Sipes in Muskogee and the couple made their home in Oktaha. Janet worked for nine years for Wal-Mart but most of her life was spent as a homemaker taking care of her family. Janet was a fighter, having survived three bouts with cancer over 20 years. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She liked to sew and watch OKC Thunder and OSU basketball games. Janet is survived by her husband Gale of the home, her son James and his wife Elizabeth of Broken Arrow; three grandchildren, Hunter Sipes and his wife Chelsea of Muskogee, Jennifer Knight and her husband Billy of Inola and Kylee Adair of Muskogee; three great grandchildren, Ryan Sipes, Hazlie Knight and Azriel Knight; one brother, Jeff Rhodes of Oktaha and her mother Geraldine Rhodes of Oktaha. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother Richard Rhodes and one sister Gwendolyn Rhodes. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday July 24, 2018 in the Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Oktaha Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee. Viewing will be Sunday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Monday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
