Obituary of George Knapp ~~George W. Knapp, 91, of Andes, passed away at his home on Thursday afternoon, September 7, 2017 Born on January 17, 1926 in Sidney Center, He was the son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Rosa) Knapp. Mr. Knapp was married to the former Marion Bordeau, she passed away in 1989 and later was married to Sarah Fuller, who passed away in 2015. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. George worked for the Andes Creamery, Decker’s Lumber and Hardware and also enjoyed helping out on Walter Gladstone’s Farm. Mr. Knapp was an avid outdoorsman, He loved hunting fishing and being outdoors. George had an extensive collection of fishing rods and was a gun enthusiast, a life member and proud supporter of the National Rifle Association. One of his greatest joys was spending time with family. He loved to instill them with outdoor skills, teaching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to hunt and fish. Besides his spouses, George was predeceased by a son-in-law: Thomas Rucher; and a grandson: Scott Rucher. He is survived by his children: Sandra L. Hunter of Oneonta, Roy Knapp of Franklin, Randy F. (Sabrina) Knapp of Mt. Vision and Shari (Don) Anderson of Andes; grandchildren: Carolyn, Darlene, Dustin, Nikki, Crystal, George, Curt, Jeffrey, Dillon, Jennifer, Christopher and Meg; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, several step-children who George loved as his own, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2PM on Friday, July 27th, 2018 at Andes Cemetery, Andes, NY. Arrangements are with MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
