Obituary for Mr. Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bryan Mr. Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bryan, 84, 2611 Dunn St. , Greenville, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Nt. Calvary F.W.B. church. Burial will follow at Harris Family Cemetery, Vanceboro, N.C.. Viewing will be 10:00 a.m until 11:00 a.m. at the church. He was born on January 28, 1933, in Vanceboro, Craven County, NC. At an early age, he joined Queen’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, graduated from the Vanceboro Consolidated School in 1952, and was later drafted into the United States Army to serve during the Korean War era. He was elevated to the rank of Corporal and completed a tour of duty in Okinawa, Japan. After receiving a Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he lived for a number of years before relocating to Newark, New Jersey. Upon retirement from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Newark, New Jersey, he moved to Greenville, North Carolina and joined Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He served as Worshipful Master at Trinity Lodge #33 in Newark, NJ. Left to cherish his memory include his wife of the home, Helen Roberson Bryan; stepdaughters, Linda Young, of Florida, Adell Tucker (Ronald), of Raleigh, North Carolina; stepson, Bernard Roberson of Oakland, California; daughters, Dr. Annette Peartree-Mandley of Honolulu, Hawaii (Dr. James), and Denise Bryan of Pikesville, Maryland; son, Franklin Roosevelt, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; brothers, Marvin Bryan, Sr. (Emma) of Windsor Mills, Maryland, and Dr. Curtis Bryan, Sr. (Bethel), of Colerain, North Carolina; sisters, Pauline Bryan Rountree of Kinston, North Carolina and Betty Bryan Greene of Virginia Beach, Virginia; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and many devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
