Obituary for Elizabeth “Betty” Lockard Elizabeth Bernadine “Betty” Lockard, 94, of Grand Island passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018. Memorial service and celebration of Betty’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow in Grand Island City Cemetery. Betty was born September 12, 1923 in Belgrade, NE, the daughter of Cecil and Grace (Hack) Hamilton. She was raised and received her education in Columbus. Betty was united in marriage to Lysle Lockard on July 16, 1944, in Marysville, KS. The couple farmed in Central City and St. Edward and also lived in Columbus, NE. They relocated to Grand Island in 1959. In addition to raising her family, Betty was employed for many years at Wolbach’s Department Store in Grand Island and also at the Island Inn Motel. She was an avid reader, enjoyed Husker Football and loved ice cream. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sandra (Ray) Erich of Lancaster, CA, Kathy Chohon of Grand Island and Linda Wanek of Grand Island; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and 8 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lysle; a daughter, Ladora Watson; sons, Rick, James and Lysle Jr.; stepdaughter, Lois; grandson, Scott Welk; and six sisters.
