Obituary for Mr. Edwin Alvis Thrasher Edwin Alvis Thrasher of Guntersville formerly of Oneonta and Fultondale went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 27th 2018. He was 87 years old. He worked for Hayes Aircraft for 45 years before retiring to take care of his wife who was sick. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Zuma Ynema Thrasher, sisters Oneta Turner, Dora Lee Hollingsworth and Mary Sue Pearson and parents Lee and Eldora Thrasher. He is survived by two sons Mike Thrasher (Cindy) of Springville and Glenn Thrasher of Guntersville, granddaughter Sabrina Thomas (Kevin) and great granddaughter Kendall Thomas as well as man nieces and nephews. The Family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the VFW or any other military organization. Funeral Services will be held at 2p.m. Tuesday July 31st at Lemley Funeral Home with burial following at Nixon Chapel Cemetery in McLarty. Mr. Thrasher will lie in state at Lemley Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1p.m. until service time. Brothers Norman Putman and Ed Engle will officiate. The family would like to thank the staff of Heart Lite Hospice for all of the help they gave and may they keep on giving. They presented my dad with a pin in honor of being a veteran only a few hours before he went on to be with his wife and the Lord. It was the happiest I had seen him in six years; it was priceless. Also, I would like to express thanks to a special person who does not want to be mentioned but helped me and my dad whenever we needed it.
