Obituary for Dr. James Marshall Mahan II DR. JAMES MARSHALL MAHAN II, 84, passed away Thursday July 19, 2018 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School 1952, the University of Louisville 1957, and the University of Louisville Medical School 1961. He served in the US Navy as a flight surgeon, then returned to U of L for his OBGYN Residency 1965-1968. After retiring from his valued OBGYN practice, he treasured his 16 years as a professor teaching OBGYN residents at the University of Louisville Medical School, receiving in 2005 the Outstanding Teaching Professor Award. He enjoyed playing drums in the Doctors’ Band. His grandchildren were his world. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. George M. Mahan, Sr. and Margaret Mahan and brother, Dr. George M. Mahan, Jr. He is survived by his devoted wife, Leslie Ann (Lodge) Mahan; four children, Jeanne Mahan, Penny Moody (Frank), Julie Boyle (Joe), and David Mahan (Cheryl); four grandchildren, Frankie Moody, Justin Moody, Peyton Mahan, and William Mahan and a brother, Tracy Mahan. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, Ky., 40223. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the church prior to the Mass. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air, St. Vincent de Paul, or charity of your choice.
