Obituary for Dr. Anasuya “Dr. Ana” Somasundaram, M.D. Dr. Anasuya “Dr. Ana” Somasundaram, M.D., of Palmer Township, passed away peacefully in her home, on Saturday, July 28, 2018. She was the wife of the late Vellore B. “Sam” Somasundaram, who passed away on April 25, 2016. Born in Chennai, India, she was the daughter of the late C.V. Viraraghavan and Saraswathy Viraraghavan. Dr. Ana received her medical degree from Madras Medical College in Chennai, India in 1962. She was board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 40 years. Dr. Ana was affiliated with St. Luke’s Hospital and Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg. She was also in private practice for many years. She was a member of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, in Saylorsburg, where she was on the board of directors. SURVIVORS: She will be lovingly remembered by her son Krishnan Somasundaram and his wife Geetha Krishnan of Tampa, FL; daughter Nirupama Somasundaram of NYC; sister Dr. Amritha Bashini Rajasekharan, MD of Bethlehem; grandchildren Lavanya and Kovid Krishnan. SERVICES: A viewing will be held from 1:30 – 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem.
