Doris June Merrifield, 88 of Gravel Hill (Avis) passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Long Term Care Facility at Lock Haven Hospital. She was born in Jersey Shore July 3, 1930 the daughter of Glenn and Hazel Brown. She was married to Willis B. Merrifield who survives. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albany, NY and was employed by the New York State Department of Commerce in Albany. She moved to Williamsport in 1964 where she was employed by the Williamsport Area School District Administration from 1964 – 1970. In her later years she was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening, knitting, needlework and crafts. Besides her husband Willis Doris is survived by a son Steven Shadick of Trout Run. A step son Mark Merrifield of Germany and a grand daughter Stacey Shadick of Cogan Station. Doris’ Life Tribute Celebration will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore with Pastor H. Russell Blanchard officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the funeral home from noon until 1pm Wednesday. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Woolrich.
