Springfield — Dawn Elizabeth Danner, 61, of Springfield, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at her brother’s home in Rochester. Dawn was born Sept. 30, 1956, in Springfield, the daughter of Eugene D. and Dorla I. Walters Danner. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dianne Danner. Dawn graduated from Southeast High School in 1974 and Lincoln Land Community College in 1978 with an associate degree in nursing. She worked at Memorial Medical Center. She volunteered… Read More » at and then worked for the Animal Protective League, fostering kittens and rescued animals. In 2010, she began volunteering at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind in Springfield and became an employee in 2011, where she worked as a nurse for seven years. She also was a member of the Springfield Garden Club. She is survived by one sister, Debbie J. (husband, Chuck) Eddington, of Springfield; two brothers, Dennis E. (wife, Jessica) Danner of Rochester and David D. Danner of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind, with Rev. Steve Crumbaugh officiating. Memorials honoring Dawn may be made to the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind, 2960 Stanton St., Springfield, IL 62703.
