Dale Stringer 2018

OBITUARY Dale Stringer November 6, 1933 – July 12, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Dale Stringer announce his passing on the morning of July 12, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family. THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO LIVE A LIFE OF PURPOSE. Dale was born in Sacramento, California and moved to Fresno when he was eleven. His parents, Benjamin and Thelma Stringer, taught him and his younger sister, Carol Stringer, to have a strong work ethic. Dale attended Lafayette Elementary, Hamilton Junior High and graduated from Fresno High School. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Fresno State University, where he also served as President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Dale went on to attain a Masters Degree in Education from Fresno State. Dale was in the Army for 2 years, taking his new bride, Ginger, with him to Germany shortly after they were married. He received honorable discharges from both the United States Army and the United States Air Force for his service. IT’S A BEAUTIFUL THING WHEN A CAREER AND A PASSION COME TOGETHER. Returning from Germany in 1958, Dale worked in the marketing field in Los Angeles and Fresno for three years. In 1962 Dale got his teaching credential and was offered a teaching position at Weldon Elementary School in the Clovis Unified School District, launching his rewarding career in education. From 1965-68, he was the principal of Dry Creek Elementary School and went on to serve as the Director of Elementary Education for the next seven years supervising all elementary schools in the district. He was named Assistant Superintendent in 1975 and promoted to Associate Superintendent in1986. He held the position of Deputy Superintendent until his retirement in 1993. Dale was passionate about offering a dynamic well-rounded education for every child. He was a proud Clovis educator who was instrumental in raising funds and providing support to staff and administrators to make Clovis schools #1! He chaired two successful bond measures, raising over $108 million dollars and still found time to help the Clovis High Golden Cougar Marching Band raise $350,000 to represent California in the 1981 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C.. His vision of building a Teacher Rerdzt/source Center became a reality for staff throughout the district. He was also responsible for acquiring the Regional Learning Center in Sonora, which offered a unique place to hold leadership retreats and 6th grade students. Dale shared 62 years of his life with his high school sweetheart, bride and best friend, Ginger. They traveled the world often together with family and friends. “FAMILY ISN’T AN IMPORTANT THING. IT’S EVERYTHING.” Memories he treasured most were the Stringer family reunions held in Maui every two years. Hawaii became a home away from home where he always looked forward to spending time with his entire growing family together. Dale’s nine grandchildren completed his world. When in his presence he made each one laugh, feel special and encouraged them to tackle their dreams. His frequent Donald Duck impressions landed him a signature nickname “Poppy Duck”. Dale was a great golfer and bowled in several leagues over the years. For more than 40 years, Dale and Ginger gathered monthly to play Pinochle with their closest friends. His Clovis competitive spirit made him a coveted partner among the group or a dreaded opponent. In his spare time, Dale found time to coach Clovis Baseball Little League, serve on innumerable committees, college and university advisory boards, and local, state and national organizations including a term as President of Phi Delta Kappa.
