Obituary for Curtis D Riley Riley, Curtis D. age 86 of Hopkins passed away June 25, 2018 with daughter, Diana, son-in-law, Thomas and granddaughter, Elizabeth by his side. Preceded in death by wife Betty, parents and siblings. He was the last Riley in his family. He began life in Mayer, MN and moved to Minneapolis. He spent his youth delivering newspapers, going to his grandparents farm, enjoying sports and helping his Mother. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1950 and traveled to Spain, Italy and the North Pole. He left the Navy in 1954. He met his bride of 46 years at Red Owl Bakery where they both worked. In 1959, his pride and joy was born as daughter Diana arrived. Curtis and Betty vacationed in Vegas as well as Canada on fishing trips. He shared his love of fishing and the water with Diana. Diana blessed them with three grandchildren. He took his Grandpa duty seriously spoiling them all. He loved going to Canterbury Racetrack with his friends right up until colon cancer took his life. Curtis was blessed in 2005 when Diana married Thomas and he was doubly blessed to live with them too. Much laughter could be heard as they discussed the sports scores or what the dog did on his or her walk. Curtis loved the rescue dogs that we adopted. He was seen walking them daily and everyone enjoyed talking to the pair as they went by. His sense of humor permeated his life. His laugh and smile brought joy to everyone he met. Curt retired from Red Owl Bakery after 30 years. Never one to sit idle he began working for Byerly’s in St. Louis Park. He retired from there June 15, 2018 after 26 years. He leaves behind some of the best coworkers a guy could ask for who claimed they never saw him sit down. Survived by daughter, Diana (Thomas) Gasior; grandchildren, David, Elizabeth and Christina; four great grandchildren and many brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
