Obituary of Cliff Ellis Clifford Eugene Ellis age 88 of Westover passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Mon Health Care. He was born February 12, 1930 in Gilbert a son of the late Phillip and Vicey Hatfield Ellis and great grandson of Devil Anse Hatfield. Cliff was a coal miner in WV for 20 years and then served as a mine safety inspector for 24 years finishing his career in Washington DC. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and attended American University from 1981-85. A man with many interests, Cliff also served as Mayor of Westover from 2004-05, earned his electrician’s license in 2006 and was an inventor with several copywrites. Cliff is survived by his wife Shirley A. Gaspar whom he married July 5, 2001, one brother Jimmie D. Ellis of Texas, step-son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nanette Gaspar and their children, Jason Gaspar, Samantha Clarkson, Rachel Gaspar who were his grandchildren. Cliff was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Ellis in 1999, his son Nicky Jerome Ellis in 1974 and his siblings Peggy Jo Ellis, Johnny R. Ellis, Ronnie O. Ellis and Rhonda S. Ellis. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover on Thursday from 5-7 pm. Burial will be at the Hollywood Cemetery in Gilbert.
