Charles Wayne Patterson 2018

Charles Wayne Patterson, 73, of Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2018. Charles was a veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS Newport News. He retired after 28 years of service as a detective with the Richmond Police Department. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Robin Patterson; children Christopher Shepperson (Kathy), Paula Patterson, Stephanie Smith (David); grandchildren Joell Shepperson, Morgan Deans (Timothy), Mackenzie Dias, Katherine Smith, and Charlie Smith; great-grandson Jaxon Deans; brothers Tom Patterson (Joyce), John Patterson (Sue), and Bryan Patterson (Lori); sister Mary Johns (Ray); and a host of nieces and nephews. Charles is preceded in death by his parents George and Della Patterson; grandson C.J. Shepperson; brother George “Buddy” Patterson; sister Gloria Pender. A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm & 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, July 15 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 16 at 3:00 pm at Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Rd. Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Interment will be private at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charlottesville, 300 9th St. SW, Charlottesville, VA 22903 or The Healing Place, c/o Caritas P.O. Box 25790 Richmond, VA 23260.
