Charles David Bright, 74 of Ashland died Tuesday July 24, 2018 at Kingston of Ashland. He was born June 8, 1944 in Mansfield the son of Martin Luther and Cora Warner Bright. He was a 1962 graduate of Hayesville High School and was a fur trader and owner of the Mifflin Trading Post. Dave was a member of the St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Mifflin, a lifetime member of the Ohio Trappers Association and a 32nd Degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Donna Gardlock Bright, to whom he was married June 29, 1968, two sons, Charles David (Susan) Bright Jr. of Berlin, Wisconsin and Dusty (Brandy) Bright of Mifflin, three grandchildren, Charles David Bright III, Devyn Bright and Spencer Bright, a sister, Mary Lou Myers of Ashland, numerous nephews and nieces and his loving dog, Dozie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marta Bolen, two brothers, Martin Bright Jr. and Bill Bright, a half-brother, Dory Banks and a half-sister, Sally Kosse. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday August 4, 2018 at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Mifflin. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A dinner and time of remembrance will follow the service in the St. Michael room at the church for everyone to talk and remember Dave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michaels Lutheran Church 26 Maine Street Ashland, OH 44805. Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville assisted the family with arrangements.
