Butler- Charlene Kay Schmidt, 74 of Butler died Monday July 9, 2018 at her home in Butler with her family at her side. She was born July 7, 1944 in Garrett to Virgil and Ruth (Krick) Hazelton. They have both passed away. She was also preceded in death by her brother Alfred Hazelton. Charlene was a 1962 graduate of Garrett High School. She was former Activity Director at Meadowhaven Nursing Home in Butler and she retired in 2006 from Calwell General Manufacturing in Kendallville. She attended Christ’s Church in Butler. She loved to sew and make quilts. She belonged to a Quilting Club. Charlene married Bob Schmidt on October 18, 1963 in Auburn and he survives in Butler. Also surviving are3 sons and a daughter, Kelly (Mike) Camp of Hamilton, Chris Schmidt of Garrett, Joe (Christine) Schmidt of Greenwood and Jason (Jennifer) Schmidt of Garrett. There are 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a Sister, Glenda (Merl) Troyer of LaOtto. A celebration of life service will be 6 PM Saturday July 14, 2018 at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, IN.
