Betty Jane Ricketts Walter Harrison 2018

Betty Jane Ricketts Walter Harrison, 86, of Viewtown, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Potomac, Maryland on January 5, 1932 to the late William Thomas Ricketts and Helen Virginia Shaw Ricketts. She was preceded in death by husbands Thomas Leroy Walter, Sr. and John Thomas Harrison, Sr. Betty was one of fourteen children; surviving siblings are Judy Alvord, Mildred May, and David Ricketts, all of Maryland. Betty was the cherished mother of Helen Berry (Don, deceased), Martha Kidwell (George), Thomas Walter, Sr. (Sheila), Ronald Walter, Sr. (Sue), Dorothy Spaid (Greg), Connie Harrison Thomas, and John Harrison, Jr. (Angie). She had 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was a member of Amissville United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker most of her life but also worked at Aileen and Fauquier County Public Schools. Her family was her greatest treasure. She was an avid gardener and canner. She was proud of her ribbons won for her jellies and other canned items. She also loved to cook Sunday dinners for her family. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, VA. The funeral service will be at Amissville United Methodist Church with interment to follow on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amissville United Methodist Church or Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept.
