Bette J. Wilkins, 92, of Rock Island, formerly of Taylor Ridge, passed away Thursday July 26, 2018 at her son’s home. A Celebration of Bette’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3rd, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated later. Bette was born July 20, 1926 in Monmouth, Ill., a daughter of Roy and Fern Mylis Hoteling. She married Warren J. Wilkins Sr. on January 7, 1945 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2008. She was a homemaker and will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a 40 year cancer survivor. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Craig J. “Jeff” and Christine Wilkins, Rock Island; grandchildren, Christopher Wilkins, Jennifer (Steven) Preza and Amanda (Sean) McIntire; and great grandchildren, Cora, Cody and Julie. Bette was preceded in death by her husband; son, Warren J. Wilkins, Jr.; brother, Donald Hoteling, Sr.; and two sisters.
