Ardith Ina DeJong was born July 3, 1928 in Mitchell, SD, the 10th of 15 children to Clyde and Hazel (Beadle) Thompson. Ardith moved to Nebraska City in 1961 and worked many jobs, including Norman’s IGA, Dress Barn, Woolworth’s and J.C. Penney’s. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City and was also a member of Red Hats, NC Garden Club, Eagle’s Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Ardith was also very involved with Region V Parents many years ago. Survivors include her sons, Allan DeJong of Beatrice, Arlan DeJong and wife Jean of Syracuse, Andrew DeJong and wife Deb of Milford; daughter, Annette DeJong of Georgia; grandchildren, Brandon DeJong, Melissa DeJong, Raina Hansen, Rennie Hansen, Ryan Hansen, Daniel DeJong and wife Gina, Kathryn DeJong, Renee Dirksen, Christian Colbert and Caleb Colbert; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brothers, William Thompson of Mitchell, SD, Charles Thompson of Spanaway, WA, and George Thompson of Wilsonville, NE; sister, Dorothy Strand and husband Dale of Mitchell, SD; many other relatives and friends. Ardith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin DeJong; brothers and sisters, James, Willis, Frederick, Harold, Howard, Richard, Barbara, Garry, Jerry and twin sister Edith. Ardith died July 14, 2018 at Bryan LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 90 years and 11 days.
