Obituary for Anna Ostrovsky Anna Ostrovsky, age 84, of West St. Paul. Passed away suddenly at her home on July 6, 2018. A devoted grandmother to her two grandsons Alex and Jack Ostrovsky, Anna was born in the Ukraine city of Odessa. Surviving bombardments by the Nazis during the Second World War, Anna escaped to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she met and married the love of her life, Gregory Ostrovsky. She graduated as an Agricultural Chemist and had a career as a patent examiner in the former Soviet Union. Upon immigrating to the United States, Anna studied at St. Paul TVI to become a pharmacy technician. She worked in the Fairview Southdate Hospital pharmacy until her disability retirement. In 1986, Anna proudly became a naturalized citizen of the United States. Over the past 15 years, Anna resided in West St. Paul. In recent years she valued greatly the many friendships she formed at the Russian adult day care. Curious and caring, she liked other people and was liked in return. She would not let her son or grandsons leave her home without packing them meals to take with. Preceded in death by husband Gregory Ostrovsky, survived by son Igor Ostrovsky, loving daughter-in-law Carolyn Ostrovsky, grandsons Alex and Jack Ostrovsky; in-law Dale Krishef; sister-in-law Elya Oksengorn; and close relatives and friends.
