Joseph D. Kissinger, age 85, of Carlisle, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at his residence. Joseph was born in Millersburg, PA on November 23, 1932 to the late Joseph D. and Emily E. (Burrows) Kissinger, Sr. Joseph was a 1950 graduate of Millersburg High School, 1954 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a 1958 graduate of Bucknell University with a Master’s Degree in Math. Joseph retired as a Mathematician from the Naval Surface Warfare… Read More » Center. He had a true dedication and love for math and music and enjoyed playing the trumpet and piano. He was a member of the Millersburg High School and Bloomsburg University marching bands playing the trumpet. He was also a member of the Bonnie Scots and Drum and Bugle Corp in Millersburg and the American Society of Quality. After retirement, he volunteered at several places in the Carlisle area. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara A. Berry; son, Robert and his wife Gwen of Mechanicsburg; daughter, Janine Kissinger-Moss of Newtown, PA; brother, Jack B. Kissinger and his wife Janet of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsay, Carly, and Timothy Kissinger and Kurt and Drew Mannick; and several nieces and nephews. Per Joseph’s wishes, there will be no services. Interment will be at Washington Crossings National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Central PA, 900 S. Arlington Avenue, Suite 134A, Harrisburg, PA 17109 or the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, 176 Water Company Road, Millersburg, PA 17061 or online at nedsmithcenter.org.
