Virginia “Virgie” M. Lippert, age 101, of Appleton and Milwaukee, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at St. Camillus Health Center. She was born to the late Harry and Adelaide (Rechner) Schommer on October 29, 1916. Virgie married Cyril B. Lippert on June 28, 1941 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and shared 62 years with him until his passing in 2004. Virgie was a long time member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and partook in various volunteer activities there and at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. She enjoyed golf, bowling, needlework, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading. Virgie loved spending time with family, especially her grandsons. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Nancy (Ignatius) Smetek of Brookfield; grandsons: Dan (fiancé Amber Ellis) of Green Bay and Sam Smetek of Brookfield; sister-in-law Dolores Lippert of Appleton; brother-in-law Jerry (Nancy) Lippert of Huntington Beach, California; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Virgie is preceded in death by her sisters: Adelaide (Ambrose) Lingnowski, Dorothy (Duane) Raiche and Mary (George) Webster; brothers: Harry (Grace) Schommer and Robert (Jean) Schommer; and brother-in-law Harold (Hildegarde) Lippert. The Mass of Resurrection for Virgie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W Pine Street, Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will take place at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Camillus Employee Appreciation Fund or St. Bernard Catholic Church. A special thanks to the staff at St. Camillus for all their loving and compassionate care.
