WETZEL RAY SMITH, 63, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, following a long illness. He was born December 24, 1954 in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Bobby Ray and Juanita Smith. His precious son Wetzel “Little Ray” Smith, Jr. also preceded him in death along with one brother, Bobby R. Smith, Jr. He leaves behind his loving wife Patricia Smith, who never left his side; one daughter, Christy (Greg) Jones of Barboursville, W.Va.; his special granddaughter Sierra Raye “C.C.” Jones; three brothers, Rick (Linda) Smith of Kenova, W.Va., Kevin (Tracy) Smith of West Hamlin, W.Va., and Paul (Tina) Smith of Huntington, W.Va.; three sisters, Roberta (Larry) Drizzle of Raceland, Ky. Debbie (Delbert) Maynard of Huntington, and Katherine (Jeff) Nance of Proctorville, Oh.; and nieces, nephews, friends, and family too numerous to mention. The family would like to thank each and every member of the 3rd Floor Pulmonary staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center for their love and support, especially JeRose, Amanda, Ryan, and Jamie, who provided care beyond measure. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Mills and Pastor Carl Black officiating. Burial will follow at Dock’s Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
