Obituary for Alice Pifer (Smith) Alice Viola Pifer, 84, of Gerrardstown, WV passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center. She was born on December 13, 1933 in Shepherdstown, WV and was the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha Frye Smith. She was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, WV. She worked for many years at JC Penney in Charles Town, WV until they closed and then at JC Penney in Martinsburg, WV where she retired. She is survived by her daughter Vicky Smith and husband Robert of Gerrardstown and daughter-in-law Kay Pifer of Middleway; four grandsons, Chris Pifer, Brian Pifer, Matt Smith and Ben Smith; one great-granddaughter Stephanie Hawkins and two great-grandsons Zander Pifer and Benjamin Smith; two great great-grandaughters, Reagan Hawkins and Indie Hawkins; sister Margaret Weiant; brother Bobby Smith and sister-in-law Linda Smith and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William C. Pifer, Sr.; her son William C. Pifer, Jr. and one brother Henry “Sonny” Smith. Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Services will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2:00PM at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Rev. Matthew Day officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Middleway. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church at 101 W. Martin St. Martinsburg, WV 25401.
