Kimberly Landes Sellberg 2018

KIMBERLY LANDES SELLBERG December 25, 1952 ~ May 9, 2018 Kimberly Landes Sellberg, age 65, of La Center, WA, passed away at home on May 9th, 2018 with her devoted husband, Dean, by her side. She is survived by her son, Matthew Horwich, of Laguna Beach, CA and her daughter by marriage, Raeann Perez, of Vancouver, WA. Kim was born on Christmas Day, 1952 in Denver, CO to parents Daniel and Barbara. As a young girl she became an accomplished violin player and equestrian. She graduated from Sonoma State University in 1990 completing her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing. She joined the Army Reserve as a 1st Lieutenant and furthered her education obtaining an advanced degree as a Nurse Practitioner. Her commitment to nursing was contagious and she was instrumental in encouraging and mentoring others to join the field of nursing. After moving to Vancouver, Kim worked for PeaceHealth and then for the last 15 years, at Kaiser Permanente as a Hospice Nurse Case Manager. In her role, she advised, instructed, and supported family members and caregivers as she provided in home hospice care to their loved ones. Kim was recognized as a fierce patient and family advocate and was widely respected for her strong nursing skills and her sound knowledge base in hospice care. Her compassion for her work was always evident as was her kindness. Kim was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She led the Community Services outreach ministry for Oasis Christian Center. She had a passion for the poor and vulnerable and took advantage of every opportunity to help those in need. Special to heart were the children of the LaVida Mission School which provides Christian Outreach and Education to the Navajo Dine’ of NW New Mexico. She led numerous fundraising activities for LaVida which included a church mission trip to LaVida in 2015. She was well known in the equestrian community for breeding and showing her champion Belgian Warmblood horses. She was also an accomplished Parelli rider a program of natural horsemanship in which she magically bonded with her Paint, Romeo. Kim enjoyed going to the beach, dining out and being home with her husband. She also spent many hours sewing beautiful quilts which decorated her home, were given to friends or donated to charities. Kim will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, friendship and love of others. A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Rick New, will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, at 4p.m. at the Oasis Christian Center located at the Vineyard Church 1207 E. Reserve Street, Vancouver, Washington 98661. A reception will immediately follow. The family welcomes all to attend and celebrate Kim’s life. Remembrance donations for The LaVida Mission School can be brought to the memorial or mailed in c/o Oasis Christian Center to 1207 E. Reserve Street, Vancouver, WA 98661.
